Toddler Boat Craft Step 3
Supplies Needed: Construction Paper - Scissors - Glue or Tape - Crayons (Optional)

Step 1: Have your toddler or young child select a color of construction paper for the background sky of the paper craft. This will mostly be a shade of blue. Next pick a different color for the color of the water and taking up about 1/3 of the page cut out a strip with flat sides, a flat bottom and a wavy top representing movement. At this point if you like you can have your child glue or tape the water down.

Step 2: Next cut out the necessary shapes for the sail boat and any shapes you would like to see appear in the water. The sail boat here is made up of a simi-circle for the bottom of the boat, a right triangle for the sail and a long thin rectangle for the mast. In this example two fish shapes were cut out and two eyes for the fish were made with a hole puncher.

Step 3: Help your child glue all the pieces into place. Each child's picture will be their own unique interpretation of a sail boat. Your child may decide to add more to his or her picture later on. Use the craft as an opportunity to discuss boating, fishing, the shapes used and life for river and ocean animals.
