| If
you have a little drummer on your hand then you may find them
banging on stools, bowls and what they can get their hands on.
This toddler craft is very fun to do and it will give your toddler
a set of conga drums to play. |
| Step
1: Take your cylinder container, most likely an oatmeal
container and cut it into three equal pieces. You will only
be needing two of these piece but you will want to save the
third piece as it can come in hand for making another craft
that calls for something like it. |
|
| You
may have already done a previous toddler craft that left you
with exactly these pieces. |
| Step
2: Next you will need the two top pieces for the two
drums. This is something that your toddler will have fund with.
Set the round piece on a piece of paper and have your toddler
trace around it on the paper. If tracing is two hard for your
child you can have them hold the drum. |
|
| You
will need to make two circles as you have two drums. If you
want you can make two bottom pieces as well and trace four circles.
|
| Step
3: Now you will need to cut strips of paper that can
go around your drums. The height of the paper can be slightly
higher than the drums. Anything that is extra you can fold down,
which will make it easier to glue or tape the top of the drum
on anyway. |
|
| Encourage
your toddler to choose fun and different colors for the sides.
This will give them an opportunity to be creative. |

4: With the help of your toddler glue or tape the construction
paper that you cut out for the sides of the drums. Glue or tape
the paper lining the edges of the bottom of the paper to the
bottom of the drum leaving anything extra to be at the top of
the drum. If you have any |

|
extra at the top of the drum. The paper will fold down easier
if you make some snips in it with your scissors. |
| Step
5: If you decided to make bottom pieces for the drums
then glue them to the bottom of the drum. Do the same with top
pieces that you made for the drum on the top of the drum. If
you had extra paper that you folded down you can squirt glue
on to that. Using tape is |
|
| also
an option for this craft if you do not have any glue or find
that it is too messy. |
| Step
6: The conga drum is nearly complete. Now your toddler
has the option of decorating it. Cut out any shapes of any color
of paper that your toddler wants to have on their conga drums.
Help them glue or tape these shapes on to the side and top of
the conga drum and let them rock out. |
