| Step
1: This first step is simply cutting out the sheet
of paper for the main part of the background and gluing it on
to a piece of thin cardboard, such as from a cereal box. Cut
the piece of cardboard so it will fit into the back gap of the
puppet theater you made. |
|
| The
cardboard will make it easier for your child to insert the background
into the puppet theater. Have your toddler select the color
of paper that they will have the most of on the background.
This will most likely be blue if the back ground has a lot of
sky or is the ocean, black if the background is space or the
night sky or what ever color your child feels they want to have.
|
| Step
2: Next you will want to cut out a strip of thin cardboard
for the top of the piece of paper. This strip should be a little
bit wider than the puppet theater. The will keep the paper from
going in too far and you'll use it for something else later
on too. |
|
| Help
your toddler glue on the strip of the piece of paper. Now it
is time to make your background details. |

3: Cut out what items your child wants to have on the
background. To the right you will see the red squares, tan circle
and a mound of yellow. These represent brinks, sticks and straw,
for a play about the three little pigs. Also your child can
draw anything that they want on the background as well. |
|
| Help
your child with any gluing of the items that they will be adding
to their background. |
| Step
4: Cut out a strip of paper to paste over the cardboard
strip. You can write anything you want on it to help your child
know what scene it is for, such as The Three Little Pigs #1.
This way you or your child will no this is the first background
for the play of the three little pigs. |
|
Cut
out another sheet of paper and do another background on the
back of this piece to save cardboard.
