| This
craft is for puppets that go to a puppet theater that we have
here too. They are very simple to make and you and your child
will love making different ones for the puppet shows you'll
be putting on. |
| Step
1: Taking some thin cardboard, like from a cereal box,
cut out a paddle like shape. The square at the bottom will be
where you paste on the puppet you are making. The circle at
the top will be where your child grips it and the rest is just
what is in between the grip and the puppet. |
|
| It
is a good idea to make sure that you make this long enough so
your child can comfortably and easily control the puppets. |
| Step
2: Next you'll need to cut out the shapes you need
from construction paper to make your puppet. To the right are
the shapes needed to make a little pig. Your toddler can also
draw their character on to the square part of the paddle if
they want. |
|
| This
step can be done before if you are unsure whether or not it
will fit on to the paddle that you make. |

3: Now help your child glue on the pieces of the puppet.
In this case the pig is standing up and is wearing overalls.
If you are making an animal standing on all of their four paws
or hoofs you will want to make the paddle shape differently
so the bottom looks like the letter tee. |
|
| The
more of these you'll do the better you will become at them and
your child will have a blast making new and fun puppets for
their puppet shows. |
| Step
4: Lastly you will need to just add any extra details.
In this case a face was drawn onto the pig as well as some buttons
on their overalls. If you want to add some detail to the circle
you can so when your child is putting on a puppet show they
will know which puppet they are using. |
